Sent on loan to Vitoria Guimaraes last season where he excelled, Moussa Marega was kept by Porto this season, a decision they haven’t regretted.
The Mali international has scored 12 goals in 15 games for the Portuguese side this season, and is now attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Brighton and Leicester City, according to Foot Mercato.
After all, it’s no surprise to see both those names in the list, considering the Seagulls are said to be after Celtic’s Moussa Dembélé, while the Foxes could end up with some money to spend on a new striker if they end up managing to sell Islam Slimani.
The Algeria international, who got his first Premier League start since September 9th on New Year’s Day, scoring in a 3-0 win over Huddersfield as Claude Puel rotated his squad during the festive period.
As for Brighton, the Premier League minnows have struggled to get their strikers to find the back of the net regularly, with a 34-year-old Glenn Murray their top scorer with six in 20 appearances.
Going after someone like Marega makes a lot of sense, but unless they pay his release clause (€40m), they won’t be getting him, as Porto won’t want their prolific forward leaving midway through the season.
