Brighton & Hove Albion are today dragged into the race for Sporting star Pedro Gonçalves.
The Seagulls’ interest in the 24-year-old is today revealed by A Bola, who had actually been speaking of Tottenham Hotspur’s strong pursuit of him.
At the end of their story, the outlet mentions that the other two clubs who want the winger signed are Brighton and Atlético Madrid, not providing many details of their chase.
Pedro Gonçalves, also known in Portugal as Pote, has been doing very well for Sporting over the past few years. But with this current season, where he has 18 goals and 12 assists so far, the interest from other clubs is apparently getting more intense.
The Portuguese press is still to say how much it’d take to sign him from the Lions. All they always write is that the player is protected by an €80m release clause, and half of his transfer price is going to his former club Famalicão.
Besides the chase from Tottenham, local newspapers have also been saying that Pote is a ‘priority’ for Aston Villa. So Brighton better get prepared for the English competition for this transfer.
