Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United are in the picture to sign LDU Quito’s Óscar Zambrano, according to a report.
The 19-year-old came through the ranks of the Ecuadorian club’s youth team and made his way into their first team in 2022. He’s made 48 appearances so far, out of which 31 were last year.
Journalist Christian Martin, writing in his column for El Futbolero, claims Brighton or United could be the midfielder’s next destination.
Luton Town have been credited with interest in signing him in the winter market and there are now joined by the Seagull and Red Devils.
The journalist claims Luton Town have already made an offer but Quito have decided to wait due to the ‘sudden interest’ shown by Brighton and Manchester United.
He adds some at Old Trafford call Zambrano the ‘new Moisés Caicedo’ as he shares similar physicality and playing style to the Chelsea player.
According to Martin, the youngster wouldn’t have issues obtaining a work permit to play in the UK, if he agrees to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side, the Red Devils or another English club.
Brighton have a good reputation for signing young South American players, who have the potential to do well in the Premier League.
Some Manchester United supporters were frustrated it wasn’t their side who signed Caicedo, after the club showed early interest.
