Brighton’s interest in Gustavo Prado has now led to an official response from Internacional.
Club president Alessandro Barcellos spoke to Rádio Gaúcha and confirmed that the 20-year-old midfielder has attracted enquiries from European clubs. However, he made it clear that no formal offers have been received.
“The monitoring of our players, not only Gustavo, by major European clubs is natural in football,” Barcellos said. “In Gustavo’s specific case, we haven’t received any proposal so far. There were enquiries when the windows were open, but no offers.”
This is the first time Internacional have spoken publicly about the situation. Prado remains on Brighton’s radar after his standout performances with Brazil’s U20 team. The Premier League side have followed his progress for months, but negotiations have not started.
According to an insider outlet, Revista Colorada, Internacional have privately set a minimum asking price of €10m (£8.5m). They hope to reach around €20m (£17m) if more than one club joins the race.
These figures match earlier reports from Globo Esporte, which revealed the board’s plan to maximise profits before approving any deal.
Internacional are open to discussions at the right time. Still, the club insist they will not sell for less than their valuation. Alongside Brighton, Porto and Bahia (City Group) are also monitoring Prado’s development.
The coming months could determine whether the midfielder stays in Porto Alegre or secures a move to Europe.
