Earlier on Friday, we covered a Roberto De Zerbi interview where the Brighton & Hove Albion manager admitted his mistakes about Davide Frattesi.

The Sassuolo midfielder has emerged as a target for the Seagulls over the past month or so, and while AS Roma would be the player’s preferred destination, it remains to be seen whether they can afford him.

Brighton, on the other hand, should have the money to tempt the Serie A side after receiving a fair chunk of money in the summer, which could lead to a January transfer attempt.

Whether they do remains to be seen, but Il Tempo in Italy do make it clear that Sassuolo ‘would be ready to let him leave even in January’.

They would only do so ‘at the right price’, and we must point out that Brighton are explicitly named as an interested party.

It’s stated the Seagulls have a ‘growing interest’ in the player thanks to De Zerbi, who never actually managed him but ‘brushed against him’ while at Sassuolo.

What works in Brighton’s favour as well is that AS Roma are set to get 30% of a future fee for Frattesi, meaning they essentially get a 30% discount if they buy him back.

That would mean less money for Sassuolo, who would have this problem if Brighton come knocking.

Something to keep in mind.
