Despite repeated interest from SPAL in Italy, it’s another Serie A side who appear to have won the race to sign Ezequiel Schelotto from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Argentinian born defender was never registered in the Seagulls’ Premier League squad for the current campaign, and with no indication this would change anytime soon, a January move was always going to happen.

First, there were rumours QPR could get in on the action, but after a number of reports, Gazzetta dello Sport explain the full-back will bounce back at Chievo.

Beating teams like Bologna and Empoli, the Italian club are expected to welcome Schelotto on a loan later on in the day after reaching an agreement early on Friday morning, but there is no mention if there will be an option to buy just yet.

This will be the 29-year-old’s second stint with the club, having spent a year there on loan from Inter for the 2014-15 season, during which he made 29 appearances in all competitions.
