Julio Enciso is likely to leave Brighton and Hove Albion this summer, with Fabian Hurzeler deciding that he’s not a part of his plans.
That’s according to journalist Christian Martin, speaking to Versus, who believes a transfer could reach £30-40m.
Enciso has returned to Brighton this summer after returning from a loan spell at Ipswich Town in the second half of last season. He joined Kieran McKenna’s side in the search of regular playing time that wasn’t on offer at Brighton.
He got that when he wasn’t injured and it’s now a question of what happens with the Seagulls, who have a squad packed with midfield talent already.
Martin reports that an exit is looking likely, with Hurzeler not considering the 21-year-old as a part of his plans for now.
“Fabián Hurzeler, according to our sources, says so too,” he said about a move away.
“If it were up to me, I’d let him go. The club is listening to offers. We’ll have to see how much they pay. I think the figure could reach £30 or £40 million. That’s a huge amount for a young player who has really performed well since he was loaned out in July.
“He wanted to go out: gain experience, gain minutes to get to the Paraguayan national team, the minutes he didn’t have at Brighton, even if Ipswich suffers and is relegated. Julio has performed well, of course he has.”
Reports have already linked Enciso with various moves, with Porto, Galatasaray and Inter Milan all credited with an interest over the last few weeks.
The news has differed based on where it’s come from, with reports in Portugal, Turkey and Italy all putting him close to their clubs at various stages.
Martin provides information on that front, and says, at this moment in time, the Champions League finalists are leading the race.
“Porto is there, but it’s like a third option. Right now, I’d put Inter Milan first, followed closely by Galatasaray, but none of the three have approached Julio yet,” he added.
“Julio would have given the okay as long as they give him minutes. They’re waiting. There was no official offer for Julio at Brighton.”
