Even though Gonçalo Ramos’ hat-trick in the World Cup’s round-of-16 against Switzerland will be enough for the rise of new transfer rumours, there was still not enough time to refresh the list of interested sides.
So Brighton & Hove Albion, who have been linked to the Benfica striker for a while now, continue to be named as the main pretender for his signing.
Today it’s Portuguese newspaper Record who writes about him, claiming that even though the player was valued by the Eagles in the summer at €40m, his performances in the World Cup set his price to €90m.
The outlet recalls that many clubs got interested in his signing in the last transfer window, with Benfica turning down a €30m bid. And then claims that he continues to be followed by Premier League sides, with Brighton ‘especially attentive’.
Gonçalo Ramos is set to start in Portugal’s next World Cup matches, and with a January window coming up, it sounds obvious that many other clubs will join the race to sign him.
And with Benfica now putting his price tag at €90m, we wonder whether Brighton will still be able to compete for his signing.
