After it was revealed in Germany that Brighton & Hove Albion had entered the race to try and sign Lazar Samardzic from Udinese, the Italian media are playing catch up.
TuttoMercatoWeb had an article on the matter earlier on Thursday, and Gazzetta dello Sport bring some more details in their print edition.
They explain that following Brighton’s insertion, the Seagulls have a €20m + €5m in bonuses bid ‘ready’ to send to the Serie A side to convince them to sell.
This, since it is the same as what Napoli have put on the table, is an amount that ‘would find favour’ with Udinese.
That being said, agreeing a fee with the Pozzo family isn’t the most important here, as Gazzetta point out that while Brighton are an enticing proposition for Samardzic, the Naples club are still ‘ahead’ in the player’s preferences.
Why? Likely because of ‘employment prospects’ and the fact they recently were in European competitions, although their current form suggests that might not be the case next season.
That’s why a switch to the Premier League, under Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, could become more favourable in the player’s eyes.
What the Seagulls’ inclusion has done, either way, is ‘further slow down operations’ for Napoli, who thought they had a free run at the midfielder.
