The difference between Napoli and Brighton for defender Leo Ostigard is now ‘minimal’ as they work to tie up a deal for the centre-back.

That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the defender is at the top of the list of the Italian club’s targets.

They explain that Napoli have chosen Ostigard to fill their fourth centre-back spot and made that clear to the player, who has ‘reciprocated’ that interest.

They are, however, yet to find an agreement with Brighton, but the distance between the two clubs and their valuations is now ‘minimal’.

Ostigard has helped things along by making it clear to his agent, Jim Solbakken, that he wants to return to Italy with Napoli after a loan spell with Genoa in the second half of last season.

He’s already given his approval to the move and committed to a deal, excited at the prospect of playing in the Champions League and continuing to ‘confirm himself’ in Italy.

That will require an agreement with Brighton, and the two clubs have been working on that for weeks, with the difference between them now seemingly small enough for them to overcome.
