Brighton and Hove Albion defender Michal Karbownik is a key target for Hertha Berlin this summer, and he ‘would very much like’ the move.
That’s according to BILD, who say the defender is the German side’s ‘hottest candidate’ to fill their left-back spot this summer.
The Polish international played on loan with Düsseldorf last season, managing one goal and five assists in 26 games and seemingly earning himself admirers in the process.
Berlin are one of them and he was already in the city for talks, which left him ‘enthusiastic’ about the move. He would ‘very much like’ to join Hertha this summer.
The problems is that he still has a contract with Brighton until 2024 and thus the Seagulls require a transfer fee. That’s currently set at €1m, but the Berliners hope they’ll reduce that price as the player is not in their plans moving forwards.
Hertha are not the only side interested in him, with HSV Hamburg and Schalke also linked, although BILD have been able to rule out the former. As far as their information goes, Hertha are Karbownik’s ‘first choice’ this summer.
Whether they can get a deal over the line remains to be seen, though, with Brighton’s current demands too much for their tastes.
