Last year, reports from the Brazilian media had a few reports claiming that Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace were interested in Flamengo fullback Wesley.
With the Rio de Janeiro side reportedly demanding up to €15m for the sale, a January move never materialised, with him staying at the club.
Now Brighton and Crystal Palace may be glad not to have signed Wesley, because according to Globo Esporte, he’s accused of assaulting and threatening a man.
That allegedly happened at a beach kiosk. The player got angry and claimed that a man took pictures of him with no authorisation, and despite the victim claiming he did not do that, he ended up punching him.
The victim claims Wesley threatened him multiple times, asking him not to take that picture to the media, as he’d pay a big price for that. A police report was filed and the situation is under investigation.
A fresh story from Globo Esporte now claims that Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz had a meeting with Wesley, although the club have yet to take a side in the case as of yet, as they are gathering information before making a decision.
With such behaviour from the player, it seems Brighton and Crystal Palace may have dodged a bullet by not buying him.
