Despite qualifying for the Champions League first knockout round, Atalanta’s form in Serie A is still a bit all over the place.
Finishing third last year, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men currently sit 6th in the table after failing to pick up points at the weekend against Bologna, who beat them 2-1.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men impressed in the victory, doing so in front of two scouts from Premier League teams, as TuttoBolognaWeb report Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion had representatives at the game.
According to the website, which is a part of the Gazzetta dello Sport network, the English duo were there to watch two players in particular: Riccardo Orsolini and Mattias Svanberg.
The former of the two, a 22-year-old Italian right-winger, started the game before coming off in the 90th minute, while the latter, a 20-year-old Swedish midfielder, came on in the 63rd minute for Gary Medel.
However, it’s made very clear that despite this scouting, neither Burnley nor Brighton will have a chance of signing either of the players this January, as Mihajlovic wants to keep his talent where it is in order to continue their strong season.
The same could apply in the summer, especially if Bologna want to continue taking their project forward, but, as TuttoBolognaWeb explain, the next six months will give plenty of time to mull things over.
That means both Sean Dyche and Graham Potter will have to wait a while longer if they want Svanberg or Orsolini (or both).
Both youngsters recently got their first caps for their respective countries on November 18th.
