Brighton and Hove Albion are considering potential replacements for Carlos Baleba and have Nordsjaelland’s Caleb Yirenkyi on their list as a result.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers. They report that the 19-year-old would be available for €15-20m.
Yirenkyi joined the Danish side from the renowned Right to Dram Academy in 2024 and has quickly developed since then, establishing himself in the first team. He’s also managed eight appearances for his native Ghana.
Brighton have noticed him and are now showing an interest as they line up potential replacements for Baleba.
They have a history with Nordsjælland, having signed Simon Adingra and Ibrahim Osman from the Danish club in the past. They are also products of the Right to Dream Academy.
Whether they make a move for Yirenkyi in the January transfer window, remains to be seen. It is likely to be dependent on how urgently they need to replace Baleba. He’s been linked with numerous top clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
There is every chance that they may look to wrap up a deal in January, for the summer transfer window. This is something Brighton have done with younger players in the past.
For now, it appears Yirenkyi is just a name to keep an eye on, with his future dependent on what happens to Baleba.
