Back in March, we covered claims from Paraguay explaining that Brighton & Hove Albion were following Inter Miami’s Diego Gómez.
Fast forward to June and Paraguayan journalist Andrés Rolón took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide an update on Brighton’s pursuit of the 21-year-old.
Rolón says that Brighton are ‘taking advantage’ of the situation, presumably the ability for a low cost deal, to bring the midfielder to England in the summer window.
Gómez has made 13 appearances for the American club this year, and his deal lasts until 2026, with an option for another year.
As per Rolón, Inter Miami’s intention is to agree a deal for the player’s transfer and retain him until the end of this year.
As well as the Seagulls, other Premier League sides are interested in the Paraguay international, but the journalist hasn’t provided their details.
Versus relay this claim and then share their own update on this case. Their title says Gómez is ‘getting closer and closer’ to the Premier League, and they mainly talk about Brighton’s interest.
According to Versus, Gómez is valued at $10m [£7.9m], and Brighton shouldn’t have an issue paying this fee.
They point out West Ham United had initially shown interest in the player, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury.
