Brentford are interested in bringing Neal Maupay back to the club and could rival Marseille for the Everton striker.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who cover the French side’s interest today and how Brentford remain in the mix for him.
They explain that Marseille continue to be active on the transfer market despite an already busy summer and a number nine is among their priorities.
The French club need a replacement for the injured Faris Moumbagna and getting Maupay from Everton remains their priority.
Discussions with the Toffees are underway to find a common ground, with reports elsewhere in France stating that Everton are demanding a full transfer at €8m.
They need to be wary of the competition, though, are Brentford are also interested in the 28-year-old striker.
Maupay spent last season on loan with the Bees and they decided against signing him permanently this summer, but it seems they’ve not given up on him yet.
Whether they’d be willing to pay what Everton wants remains to be seen but it seems Marseille are wary of them and there could be a small battle for Maupay, something few would have predicted.
