Brentford are betting heavily on Michael Kayode, and he is proving worthy of that backing to date, at least according to his agent.
Claudio Vigorelli has been speaking to Tuttomercatoweb about his clients, including the Brentford defender, today.
The 21-year-old joined Brentford in a loan deal in January this year, with the Bees paying an initial €500,000 to secure that loan until the end of the season
They then paid €17.5m deal to make the transfer a permanent one in July after the full-back established himself in then manager Thomas Frank’s plans in the second half of last season.
He’s been a regular again this season under Keith Andrews, with seven appearances to date and a starting role in all five Premier League games so far.
It’s a continuation of an upward trajectory for Kayode, who previously established himself as a key player for Fiorentina, making 71 appearances in total for the Italian side after initially joining their U19 side in 2021.
He quickly rose through the ranks at the club over the following two years before establishing himself in the first team and his agent admits, because of that, there is still a love for the Italian side.
“Absolutely,” Vigorelli said when asked if Kayode had settled in England.
“He’s a player Brentford have focused on, he’s playing consistently and demonstrating his worth. He’ll always be grateful to Fiorentina and will remain a Viola fan for everything he’s experienced in Florence.”
