The Colombian media today reveals Brentford’s interest in Josen Escobar.
According to journalist Pipe Sierra, scouts from the Bees have registered themselves to watch the Pre-Olympic tournament in South America, and will have some ‘special attention’ on the 19-year-old.
It’s said that Brentford are not alone in that chase, though, as the City Group are also set to keep an eye on the youngster.
Regarding the possibility of a transfer, Sierra claims that America made their stance on a sale very clear. The problem is that he doesn’t say what this stance is.
Escobar is a defensive midfielder who only has 20 appearances for America’s first team, and the Pre-Olympic tournament should be a great opportunity to watch his potential.
Colombia will be facing the likes of Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Venezuela in the first stage, which kicks off tomorrow night.
In case Brentford decide to go for Escobar now, that may end up being a smart move, as that should avoid the bigger competitions that players get once they get to their country’s main squads.
