Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk has been ruled out of action for Ukraine, although there is hope over his injury.
That’s according to Sport.ua, who cover the situation around the 21-year-old today. He’s set to miss the clash against Iceland.
They first report that manager Sergey Rebrov announced his 23-man squad for the game today. There was only one absentee from that: Yarmoluk. He is simply described as ‘injured’. Rebrov then confirmed the injury in comments about the squad.
“Unfortunately, Yegor Yarmolyuk will not be able to play tomorrow, but he is recovering,” he said when asked about the Brentford star.
“The day after tomorrow he will already work with players in the main group. We hope that Yegor will be ready to play against Azerbaijan.”
He did not confirm what injury the Brentford man had suffered. However, given they play Azerbaijan on October 13th, it would appear he’s not suffered anything serious.
Brentford will certainly be hoping that’s the case given Yarmoluk has started all seven of their Premier League games to date. He’s played 90 minutes in five of those, with 79 and 73 minutes in the games he hasn’t.
He’s very much a key player for Keith Andrews, a big change given he only started 15 games out of 38 in the Premier League under Thomas Frank last season.
