It appears that Thomas Strakosha is not happy in the slightest with his situation at Brentford under Thomas Frank.
The Albania international arrived on a free transfer from Lazio, after his contract ran out, and many expected him to take over between the sticks.
That hasn’t been the case, as he has mostly been on the bench during his time at Brentford, and, in an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio, he has now vented his frustrations.
The 28-year-old made it clear that he ‘needs to play’ more than he currently is with the Premier League side and feels a ‘solution must also be found with the club’.
He added that he knows what he can bring to a team and knows who is, and with the Euros coming up, he might need to move.
Strakosha continued: “I would never come to be a bench player. I’ve never done that in my life, so I’m certainly not doing it now. I had a long injury last year, and anything can happen in life. You don’t give up… even though I was expecting more this year. Now I just want to be well and for that I have to find a solution.”
Asked he if could leave 18 months after arriving at Brentford, the goalkeeper said: “There is always the possibility, but it depends on both of us (him and Brentford). Let’s see what happens.”
Gianluca Di Marzio’s website add that in order to convince him to sign, the Bees had ‘promised Strakosha that he would be the starter’.
The Albania international has only made four appearances in all competitions for Brentford this season, conceding six goals during those.
That takes his total to six games for the club in 18 months, which, compared to his 208 games at Lazio, where he was mostly the starting goalkeeper, is very little.
