Brentford are starting talks to sign São Paulo fullback Welington, according to reports from Brazil.
The Bees’ interest in the player has been revealed in the past few hours by major outlets such as Goal and Globo Esporte.
Still, it’s journalist Jorge Nicola who features a fresher video with all the information about Brentford’s chase.
It’s said that today, Welington’s agent Robson Ferreira is heading to São Paulo’s headquarters to find out the club’s demands.
The Bees are said to be keen on the signing and asked the representative to ‘open talks’ with the Tricolor to get more information on the situation.
It’s recalled that the Brazilian club previously turned down a €3.5m offer from CSKA for 50% of the player’s rights, and Besiktas had also tried with €4m for 70% of his rights.
The journalist claims a good offer from the Bees would be something around €5m for 80% of his rights.
Nicola also claims to have spoken to São Paulo president Julio Casares. The club chief couldn’t guarantee anything, claiming he needs to hear what Brentford have to say.
