Brentford will need €32.5m to sign Maximilian Beier from TSG Hoffenheim youngster Maximilian Beier, after his new contract saw his release clause significantly rise.
That’s according to BILD and journalist Christian Falk, who has covered the developing interest in the 21-year-old amid his impressive performances this season.
Beier is one of the rising stars in Germany football after managing six goals and four assists in 15 games in the Bundesliga this season.
That’s put him on the radar for a number of clubs, with Liverpool and Everton reported to be keen earlier this year before Brentford were then thrown into the mix.
That report at the end of October indicated that the German club were moving to stop him being able to leave thanks to a cheap purchase clause in his contract at the time.
That may not be enough to stop them and other English suitors, though, as they can certainly afford such a figure according to Falk.
“We already reported here exclusively that Liverpool are watching him. However, there are three, really much more specific interested parties from the Premier League; Brentford, Brighton and Nottingham Forest,” he said.
“I also heard that there is also an interested party from the Bundesliga, namely Bayer Leverkusen. Xabi Alonso is a big fan of this type of player but after he signed a new contract his release clause is €32.5m.
“There was one in his old contract which was 10 times less. So now he would be quite expensive, but I’ve also heard that his exit clause is supposed to be reduced by two and a half million per year so with a little patience he can be signed for cheaper.
“The English can certainly afford him now, so we’ll keep an eye on it in case that becomes really concrete.”
