Ajax should be considering Brentford manager Thomas Frank as their next appointment after deciding not to stick with John Heitinga.
That’s according to analyst Johan Derksen, who has suggested the Brentford manager could be the ideal fit for the Dutch giants.
Frank has been impressing at Brentford for several years, first leading them to the Premier League before keeping them up with a comfortable 13th placed finish last season before leading them to ninth this season.
This campaign could have been even better, with only two points separating the Bees from a place in Europe and even more impressive rise than the one they’ve enjoyed so far.
Frank has been key to their success so far, implementing an attractive and efficient style of football and helping to develop a number of players into Premier League level players.
His work has not gone unnoticed, with many often touting him as a potential candidate for jobs higher up the Premier League whenever they become available.
Perhaps a job at a European side could tempt him away from Brentford in future, and Derksen believes Ajax should be making that attempt this summer.
“Ajax is Ajax. Surely, they shouldn’t bring a guy from Scandinavia?” he said.
“A country where they ski better than play football. I think Brentford’s manager is a good one for Ajax. He’s doing really well.”
