With Stade de Reims unlikely to be able to keep Folarin Balogun beyond the current season, the striker is expected to return to Arsenal.

That’s when Mikel Arteta will have to make a decision about whether to keep him in his squad or not, as he will be aware that many club are keen on the forward, who has been a huge success for the Ligue 1 side this campaign.

One of those are said to be Brentford, with French journalist Ignazio Genuardi claiming Thomas Frank’s side are following the striker’s situation ‘very closely’.

Part of the reason for that is Ivan Toney is attracting interest from bigger clubs with his performances for the Bees, and they could need a replacement for him should he be sold.

Brentford seem to have decided Balogun could fill that void, and they could ‘heavily invest’ in the player, especially when they know he doesn’t particularly want to return to the Gunners to sit on the bench after a season of being the star of the show in France.

Therefore, this is something worth keeping an eye on, especially as it makes a lot of sense if Toney leaves, with Brentford and Arsenal potentially striking a mutually beneficial deal this summer.
