On Tuesday, Corriere dello Sport reported Brentford and Ipswich Town have asked about Jens Cajuste. It was also stated he’s likely to leave this summer as he has no future at Napoli.
Brentford have taken the lead in the race to sign the midfielder, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Serie A side are ‘waiting’ for the 24-year-old to seal a move to Brentford, and for Gianluca Gaetano to go to Parma, so they can bring in new signings themselves.
With regards to the Sweden international, Di Marzio claims the Bees have ‘almost closed’ the deal to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.
He makes no mention of the fee Thomas Frank’s side will have to pay to the Naples club or what’s missing for them to complete this operation.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Cajuste has agreed personal terms with Brentford. He adds the Premier League side have to sort out the details of the deal with Napoli.
In another post on X, Tavolieri says Cajuste will sign a four-year deal at Brentford, once his stay is made permanent at the end of next season.
These two reports indicate Brentford are set to complete the deal for Cajuste, once they iron out details with Napoli.
Gianluca Di Marzio has now come up with a fresh update, which brings Cajuste closer to the Premier League side.
He claims Thomas Frank’s side have ‘reached an agreement’ with Napoli to sign the Swede on loan with an obligation to buy set at €12m.
With all parties finding an agreement, Cajuste’s medical tests and the announcement is now all that’s missing.
