Nottingham Forest have been pursuing Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca in the winter market.

At the start of this month, claims from Italy stated Sean Dyche’s side are most interested club.

Nottingham Forest have taken a big step forward to secure the striker’s services in this window.

At the weekend, Gianluca Di Marzio reported the Reds have reached an agreement in principle with Napoli for an initial loan deal. His former club, Pisa, have also shown interest, an the 25-year-old will make a decision soon.

Radio Marte further backs up Nottingham Forest’s serious desire to acquire the Italy international’s signature.

Antonio Conte’s side have to carry out a few exit operations before carrying out signings this month. They seem to have made advances with Nottingham Forest over a move for Lucca.

The report states there’s been a ‘breakthrough in last few hours’. According to Radio Marte, the player is open to moving to the City Ground in January.

Therefore, Dyche’s side have accelerated their efforts to finalise the deal for the attacker on loan with an option to buy set at €35m. If there are no last-minute setbacks, Lucca will play in the Premier League.

Rai Sport journalist and Napoli expert Ciro Venerato also reports the player would be on his way to the English club, related by Area Napoli.

He says the Italian is ‘ready to say yes’ to Nottingham Forest, after rejecting Benfica, Pisa and a move to Saudi Arabia.

According to the journalist, Dyche’s side will pay a €1m loan fee and have agreed a €35m purchase option. Lucca’s temporary stay will be made permanent if certain set conditions are met. Venerato makes no mention of those conditions.

Lucca has struggled for a prominent role under Conte at Napoli this season. He’s managed two goals from 585 minutes from 22 matches.
