Watford have reportedly reached a deal with Brazilian side Fluminense for the transfer of the 16-year-old striker João Pedro.
As reported by Globo Esporte this Wednesday, the clubs have a verbal agreement for the move since last Sunday. Now they wait for the player to sign the contract in the next few days.
João Pedro has been excelling at Fluminense’s U-17 squad lately. He’s turning 18 in September 2019, which means he will only be able to move to England in January 2020. It’s said that in case the clubs reach an agreement, then the transfer would be completed only in the summer of 2020.
Globo Esporte claims that the deal was agreed in London. President Pedro Abad had a meeting with Watford to discuss the €3.75m which the Hornets owe Fluminense due to Richarlison’s sale to Everton this summer, and João Pedro ended up being included in the talks.
The website reports that João Pedro has been training with Flu’s first team squad since the last week. In case he keeps impressing, it’s possible that he will become a professional soon, skipping his time at the U-20 squad.
