It’s now time for the Brazilian press to confirm that Diego Cavalieri is close to reaching an agreement to join Crystal Palace.

After the English media broke the news this morning, website UOL shows up backing up the news, saying there are ‘advanced negotiations’ for the player to return to the Premier League.

The 35-year-old is currently a free agent since being released by Fluminense at the start of the Brazilian season. Last week, the local media had already reported that he had flown to London to negotiate with Crystal Palace.

Cavalieri joined Liverpool in 2008 from Brazilian side Palmeiras in a €4m deal, and spent two years at the club. He made only 10 appearances for the Reds, and was sold to Cesena in 2010.

His return to Brazil came year later, with the goalkeeper staying at Fluminense for seven years. He was released by the club last month due to his big wages, it sounds like he’ll shortly be under Roy Hodgson’s command.
