As André Santos, once of Arsenal, was interviewed by Youtube channel Cartolouco, he had a couple of things to say about his time in London.

The 38-year-old took part in a show in which he answered 100 questions in just a few minutes. Since he had a long career, not many had a mention ofr the Gunners.

André Santos named the Emirates Stadium as the best stadium he’s ever played. And then mentioned Arsene Wenger in two questions: Who’s the best manager he had and if he ever had a heated argument with a coach.

So after the 100 questions, he was asked to tell the story about that Arsenal episode. And he claims it all happened because the French boss wouldn’t give him the playing time he promised.

“I got hurt, fractured my ankle and he said he wouldn’t loan me. Fine. I came back, he said I was going to play. He left me six games straight on the bench. Me coming back, training. He said ‘no, you enter the game today’,” André Santos told Cartolouco.

“In the sixth game I said: Professor, you said I was going to play, I stayed here, and you signed a left-back from the Spanish national team, and I won’t play. Then he said I’d play in the next game.”

That’s when he burst into Arsenal’s changing room shouting. Probably for his own good, he claimed his bad words were all in Portuguese, so we’ll leave those out, but the impact is just the same

“I arrived in the locker room kicking everything: You said I was going to play, such and such. In English.

“In fact, when we’re nervous, we’re nervous, wanting to curse, we only curse in Portuguese. So much so that most Europeans only learn swear words in Portuguese. Then I talked to him. He had already closed the window for me to transfer to another team in Europe, Fenerbahce wanted to sign me again, he didn’t release me.”
