Following stories from last week saying Manchester City are interested in Flamengo midfielder Matheus França, we get to see this information now being backed up by a new source.
Journalist Julio Miguel Neto comes up saying that the City Group indeed has an eye on the player, having monitored him lately, and an offer could be made next year.
It’s recalled that Manchester City had already got interested in the player at the start of the year, and evaluated the chance of making an initial €35m bid.
Their idea would be to find a deal back then and only take him to Europe later, as he only turned 18 in April.
According to Julio Miguel Neto, the idea now would be to land Matheus França in the next summer.
The Premier League side, however, would be more likely to loan him out in this first stage, and only then evaluate whether to use the player.
“For Manchester City, he is a player that pleases. They should do as they do with many jewels, they sign and loan to teams from the franchise, like Girona or other teams. They give minutes, experience, and then returns to Manchester City itself or to another major European football team making the sale.”
It’s pointed out that Matheus França is protected by a €100m release clause, although we all know that half of that would be more than enough for Flamengo to accept Manchester City’s bid.
