The Brazilian media today reveals Bahia’s attempt to sign Lyanco from Southampton.
According to Goal Brasil, the Tricolor made a bid to secure the defender in the current winter market, but that was ruled out by the player himself.
Lyanco, who’s currently having a loan at Al-Gharafa, reportedly wants to finish the season in Qatar before changing clubs again.
Bahia were recently taken over by the City Group and have been making heavy investments lately. The story claims their offer was for a permanent deal with Southampton, although the amount on the table wasn’t revealed.
Lyanco was signed by the Saints back in 2021, in a €7.5m deal. Following a lot of rumours about his exit from St. Mary’s last year, he ended up joining Al-Gharafa in the summer on a one-year spell.
He hasn’t been playing much there, though, as despite being a starter in his first three games, he picked up an injury and hasn’t been used since September.
The 26-year-old is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €3.2m, and the Saints will surely be watching out for offers.
