It’s now time for the Brazilian media to bring their news on Bruno Guimarães’ contract renewal with Newcastle United.
IG Esporte today feature a story stating the midfielder has already agreed to a new deal with the Magpies.
The outlet writes that Newcastle’s lawyers are currently working to finalise the documents, and the agreement should be announced in the coming days.
It’s said the parties had been speaking in the past few weeks, and agreed to a contract which will run until 2028.
Newcastle will reward Bruno Guimarães with a bigger salary, but the main reason the club had been worried about a renewal was to push away the interested clubs.
IG recalls that both Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain had been interested in Guimarães, and adds that PSG regret not having made a bid for him before he moved to the Magpies.
Newcastle seemed to spend big when paying Lyon €42m for the Brazilian in January 2022, but right now the player is valued by Transfermarkt at €70m.
His first deal would expire in 2026, and it’s about time he’s rewarded for his great start at the club.
