Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus could be sidelined for up to three months, according to reports from Brazil on Tuesday.
The severity of the injury was reported by the former Betis and Brazilian national team player Denilson, who spoke to Radio Bandeirantes this morning.
Denilson claimed Gabriel Jesus has broken the right foot’s fifth metatarsal and should have surgery soon.
The player was injured during Monday’s away match against Bournemouth, and was replaced by Sergio Aguero after only 15 minutes on the pitch.
Given that the season ends in May, there’s the possibility that Gabriel Jesus won’t even return to Manchester City’s side before the end of the current campaign. He would be out for between two and three months.
The claim was also backed up by SporTV, and the story is obviously widespread in Brazil given Gabriel Jesus’ rising profile. Denilson will be giving further updates on Bandeirantes’ TV show Jogo Aberto this afternoon.
According to ESPN Brasil reporter João Castelo Branco, Manchester City will not release an official statement until Pep Guardiola’s press conference on Friday.
