This week we’ve covered a couple of claims from Brazil about Corinthians being interested in signing Lucas Piazon from Chelsea.
The Brazilian club’s president Andres Sanchez had travelled to Europe to explore opportunities for transfers and sponsorship, and Piazon was one of the names on his agenda.
His contract ends in June 2019, after he arrived at Chelsea in 2012, and if the club can’t get a renewal then they’ll need to sell in January to have chance of a transfer fee.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, who works for Yahoo, now has a new take on the situation. Corinthians interest is noted again, and the trip to Europe, but it’s believed Chelsea are likelier to sell to an English club.
In August they rejected an offer from Fulham for the 24 year old attacker and it’s claimed talks are now ongoing with Valencia and Derby County.
Frank Lampard being manager at Derby may provide some advantage, in terms of contacts, but Chelsea are unlikely to hand out a discount. That said, they’re not in a great negotiating position.
