Even though it had been a while since Brighton & Hove Albion last got linked to Flamengo fullback Wesley, it seems an attempt could still be in their plans.
Some fresh claims arrive from Brazil today, as outlet RTI Esporte claims the Seagulls are preparing a bid for the player.
The website says Brighton representatives made an approach for Wesley, and Flamengo now wait for their offer to arrive.
The Seagulls are reportedly signalling they will start off with a €4m bid, letting the Rio de Janeiro club keep 20% of a future transfer.
That may be not enough to convince Flamengo, though, with RTI Esporte claiming the Brazilian side are not keen on losing players and would take at least €8m to negotiate Wesley.
It’s worth pointing out that the fullback isn’t going through a great time, as he’s injured and was recently accused of assaulting a man, with the police being involved in that case.
The source is also far from being one of the biggest outlets in Brazil, so we better wait and see if some more traditional websites come up with any information on Brighton’s interest.
