Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri has been “advised” by manager Erik ten Hag to join FC Twente on loan this summer.
That’s according to Tijmen van Wissing, who says it is a choice between Boca Juniors and the Dutch side for the Manchester United man in the coming weeks.
Pellistri has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after a frustrating year for him last season in which he managed just 11 appearances and 280 minutes of football in total.
Several reports have linked him with a move to Ten Hag’s former club Twente, with it claimed late last month that Ten Hag had advised the player to join his former club.
That was followed by another claim that the player and his agents were open to the move and further emphasised that the Manchester United manager wanted him to make the switch.
Now Van Wissing has backed up those claims, explaining what’s going on behind the scenes and whether Pellistri will end up with the Dutch club in the coming weeks.
“FC Twente simply have no wingers and you can see that,” Twente Insite report him saying.
“A bit of the same thing is happening at FC Twente as at Ajax, they are waiting for Pellistri from Manchester United. Boca Juniors seems to be in the market for that now.
“That boy is advised by Ten Hag to go to FC Twente, because you play all the matches there in any case. He seems to be a great talent from Uruguay. They are waiting for that.”
