On July 20th, we covered a story from Spain claiming that Bournemouth were ‘determined’ to sign Levante’s Jefferson Lerma, who has a €60m release clause in his contract with the La Liga side.

A report from England stated a €36m bid had been made from the Cherries, but that was vehemently denied by the local press, who claimed the Spanish side were yet to receive an offer from Eddie Howe’s club.

However, that appears to have changed, according to Cadena COPE, who claimed on Tuesday evening that Bournemouth had ‘upped their offer’ for the Colombia international, with both Levante and the Premier League outfit ‘continuing negotiations’.

The bid was said to be ‘far off’ €30m, which we can only assume is what the Spaniards are asking for.

It seems Bournemouth are really intent on getting their man this summer, and some in Spain are already dreaming about what the club could do with their money, like bring back Leicester’s Vicente Iborra.
