Bournemouth are now pushing for Brazilian wonderkid Rayan, as the Premier League club take a more proactive stance in a race that has already featured several European sides.
The update comes from transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, who reports that the Cherries are actively moving on the Vasco forward.
That development places Bournemouth alongside clubs previously linked with the 19-year-old, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Crystal Palace, as well as interest from outside England. However, unlike some of those sides, Bournemouth appear ready to offer a clearer sporting pathway rather than remain in a monitoring phase.
According to Moretto, the south-coast club are applying pressure as they explore a potential deal with Vasco. Any negotiations remain shaped by Vasco’s firm position. The Brazilian club recently renewed Rayan’s contract until 2028 and continue to point interested parties towards an €80m release clause, around £68m.
Brazilian journalist Thomas Alencar commented on the news from a development point of view, backing the Bournemouth option.
Bournemouth seen as right step
Speaking about the potential move, he said: “I think it is the right step for Rayan. Bournemouth usually develop their promising assets very well. Rayan would arrive to be a starter and to get playing time, which he would not have at a much bigger club. One step at a time. That is how it works.”
That assessment reflects opinion rather than confirmation of strategy, but it echoes a wider view in Brazil. The idea is that regular minutes and responsibility could outweigh the immediate appeal of a larger club, especially at this stage of Rayan’s career.
For now, Bournemouth have positioned themselves as one of another assertive club in the picture. We’ll see if that intent develops into formal talks. But the situation around Rayan continues to evolve as Premier League interest becomes more tangible.
