Bournemouth are expected to return with a second bid for Porto’s Evanilson after their first offer was turned down.
That’s according to UOL and journalist Bruno Andrade, who cover the situation today and back up reports from Europe regarding Bournemouth’s efforts.
UOL first back up claims that Porto have rejected an offer from Bournemouth for Evanilson, explaining that a €30m bid had been turned down, as we covered earlier today.
They say that the Portuguese side have made it clear they’ve no interest in selling the striker, who would be the replacement for Dominic Solanke, and the sentiment behind the scenes is that negotiations will prove to be difficult.
Porto are protected by a release clause worth €100m and the player’s contract with them runs until 2027, so they have no need to sell at this point.
Andrade insists that Bournemouth are undeterred, though, and should make another offer for the Brazilian striker soon. He confirms their first bid was worth €30m but rejected by Porto in the last few days.
What figure the Cherries offer next isn’t mentioned nor is there any indication of a sum Porto would accept.
Portuguese sides very rarely get the release clause for players, which are often set high, but they will use it as a means by which to ramp up the price of players and it’s likely Porto will do the same here.
With €64.3m banked from selling Solanke to Tottenham Bournemouth have money to spend, but how high they are willing to go remains to be seen.
