Christos Mandas is close to leaving Lazio to join Bournemouth, but there are small details to be ironed out in the agreement.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb. They report that while Lazio have approved a loan deal for the goalkeeper, including an option to buy, it’s still not finalised.
The current agreement would see Mandas join Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season. That would include an option which would take the package to €20m. There is, though, a disagreement over the initial loan fee.
Lazio are asking for €4m, with an option to buy set at €16m. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are offering €3m up front and €17m to sign Mandas permanently. These are the details which need to be resolved.
Until they are dealt with, Lazio have no intention of signing the deal off. They also want to ensure that defender Alessio Romagnoli’s move to Al-Sadd is also finalised at the same time.
They need the funds from both deals to open up space in their budget to do business this month. That is perhaps, why, they are taking a hard line with Bournemouth over as little as €1m.
The Italian side can achieve the space they need by either selling Mandas permanently or Romagnoli. Bournemouth, though, don’t want a permanent transfer for the goalkeeper at this point.
In reality, it’s all a little bit ridiculous given it’s regarding €1m and at what point that is paid. But Lazio have their reasons, and we’re sure we’ll learn Bournemouth’s before too long.
