Bournemouth are showing an interest in Fiorentina full-back Niccolò Fortini, making initial contact about a move this summer.
Gianluca di Marzio reports that that Bournemouth have shown an interest in the 20-year-old and already opened conversations about him.
Bournemouth hold talks
The Italian journalist insists that there’s been no progression beyond those initial conversations. According to his information, incoming manager Marco Rose will have his say on the potential transfer.
He’s set to replace Andoni Iraola at the end of the season. And there’s every chance that he could decide to give a greater chance to Julio Soler next season. The Argentine has only made six Premier League appearances this season.
But a change of manager can often lead to a change of plans when it comes to players. Thus, any incoming transfer business appears to be on hold until Marco Rose assesses the squad that he’ll inherit.
Niccolò Fortini is a left-back, so would come into the squad to compete with summer signing Arien Truffert. The 24-year-old has been a regular this season, playing in 99% of the available minutes in the Premier League and featuring in the starting 11 100% of the time.
Marco Rose choice
It seems Bournemouth now want to ensure there’s an adequate alternative in the squad, and Fortini could be that man.
He, though, has only played in 16% of the available minutes in Serie A this season. That number jumped to 53% in their run in the Conference League, which lasted for nine games.
But it seems Bournemouth have noticed something either way. And initial conversations have been held about a potential move to the south coast this summer.
Any final decisions will seemingly rest with Marco Rose. Bournemouth plan to give him time to make his decision on the squad he inherits from Iraola before then sanctioning or blocking any transfer moves.
