Bournemouth forward Justin Kluivert has admitted he finds the city a little ‘boring’ but doesn’t see that as a major negative.

The Dutchman has been speaking to Algemeen Dagblad about his career and Bournemouth, who he joined in the summer transfer window.

He was one of several new signings made by manager Andoni Iraola in the summer as he shaped the squad in his own image, arriving in a €10.8m deal from AS Roma.

The move to England completed something of an interesting challenge for Kluivert, whose varied career so far has already seen him play in the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France and Spain as well.

Indeed, he is one of only two players to have played and scored in all of Europe’s top five leagues, an interesting statistic indeed for a player who is still only 24-years-old.

While some look at that stat as an interesting novelty to have, it is also indicative of a player who is yet to settle down and show his best.

A permanent move to Bournemouth means he now knows where his immediate future lies and it seems he values that highly, even if the location is a little bit more boring than he’s accustomed to.

“I can now finally play football without having to think about where I will be next season,” he said.

“It was still a dream for me to experience what everyone was always talking about. “That’s (the stat) absurd, isn’t it? Especially because I’m not 35 but 24. It also tells what I have experienced. I have been going for some years now, but I still have more to go.

“No one can know whether I would have been at a top European club or at the bottom of the Premier League. I also don’t know whether I would still stay at Ajax if I had it to do over again.

“Not really. What I’m saying is that I have to find my own way in this career. And I do that too. I know what I am capable of, and I still firmly believe that I can reach the absolute top.”

“The city of Bournemouth is a bit more boring than I was used to. You can also see that as a positive, because I can focus even more on football now.”
