Over the past day or so, there has been an increase in reports regarding Nicolo Zaniolo and a potential move to AFC Bournemouth.
On paper, it’s clearly a surprising story, as few would have ever expected the Cherries to target a player linked with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham for so long, but with many reluctant to seriously bid for him in January, a door has opened for them.
This is according to Calciomercato, who explain that with Bournemouth being ready to ‘put a salary of €5m on the plate’ and presenting an offer of €35m including bonuses as well as 10% of a future resale, AS Roma ‘obviously accepted’.
Now, the tough part is for the Premier League club, currently fighting against relegation as they sit in 18th, to convince the player.
It’s stated he is ‘reluctant’ to switch Roma for Bournemouth, but he is also ‘aware that doors opening elsewhere are practically zero’.
That’s why members of the Cherries ‘will be’ in Rome on Friday to talk to the player’s entourage and ‘convince them of the benefits of a mutual relaunch project’.
Whether they succeed, however, remains to be seen.
