The French media are slowly getting into the swing of things in the January transfer window, and that means multiple Ligue 1 players being linked with moves to multiple Premier League sides.
Friday has been a busy day for that, and it’s now the turn of Bournemouth and West Ham United.
According to an article from French newspaper L’Equipe, both Bournemouth and West Ham have ‘concrete interest’ in Elye Wahi.
Who is that? Elye Wahi is a 22-year-old striker owned by Marseille. He joined them in August from Lens, for an initial €25m plus a potential further €5m in bonus payments.
Since then he’s only had 575 Ligue 1 minutes, but has managed to find the back of the net three times in his limited opportunities.
L’Equipe report no offers have been made to Marseille by Bournemouth, West Ham or anyone else for that matter, and the French club aren’t especially looking to let him go.
There are discussions going on from both clubs, but they’re at a ‘preparatory level’.
Reading between the lines, if someone offers Marseille their money back, either in a straight permanent transfer or a loan with a mandatory option then they can likely get the player.
Of course, a lot will depend on what Elye Wahi wants.
