Ruhr Nachrichten, a newspaper local to Borussia Dortmund, have an article today which will sting for Manchester United fans.

First they make it clear that, as far as they see it, Jadon Sancho isn’t going anywhere and will go through the current season as a BVB player. The ‘Nein’ from Dortmund chiefs is ‘definitive’, and Gary Cotterill, the Sky Sports journalist who was sent to Germany for Sancho updates, is again pitied for his ‘sobering business trip’.

Ousmane Dembele has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this week, as an alternative to signing Sancho. Ruhr Nachrichten go over his exit from the German club for Barcelona, and the problems he’s had since.

They say the player is ‘extremely injury prone’ and cover his off the pitch issues as well, not really putting a sales pitch together for the Frenchman.

However, Borussia Dortmund are set for a potential financial boost, with the newspaper explaining the club will receive a further €10m payment from Barcelona if he moves, regardless of whether that’s a loan or permanent deal.

So, as Ruhr Nachrichten see it, Dortmund will get to keep Sancho and are also in for cash windfall should their former player be signed as an alternative target.

That’s sending a rather big L to Manchester United, and the club’s supporters will surely be hoping the German media outlet are left with egg on their face in a few days.
