Borussia Dortmund are interested in Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilón in the January transfer window, with his loan at Manchester United seemingly set to be cancelled.
That’s according to Sky Germany, relayed by Fussball Transfers, who explain Dortmund are focused on adding a left-back to their squad for the second half of the season.
According to them, Dortmund’s focus is on adding a left-back to their squad and ‘there is interest’ in Reguilón, who is currently on loan at Manchester United from Tottenham.
However, the Spaniard has a ‘contractual promise’ included in that deal that allows him to end the loan early and given his lack of playing time under Erik ten Hag, that looks like being an option.
“The left-back position was a topic that we discussed in the summer, as we know that Ramy will not be available to us during the Africa Cup of Nations. We’re having a few thoughts internally, but we’re also thinking about bringing someone in from outside,” coach Edin Terzic confirmed in his press conference today.
The Tottenham man is one of the options being looked at alongside Real Madrid’s Fran Garcia, but Reguilón is seen as much more attainable.
A deal for Garcia is ‘unlikely to be feasible’ with it believed that the chances of getting Reguilón are higher given he can decide his own future and may even be allowed to leave Tottenham on loan once again.
A potential move rests on him and Spurs coming to an agreement but the interest from Dortmund is there, nonetheless.
