West Ham United’s potential move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah may have been handed a boost as Bayern Munich seem unlikely to move for him.

That’s according to Fussball Transfers and the BILD podcast Bayern Insider, who cover the player today amid increasing interest in his services.

First the latter, who say Tah is the latest option to be looked at by Bayern as they look to strengthen their defence in the January transfer window.

Indeed, manager Thomas Tuchel has ‘taken a closer look’ at the 27-year-old himself, as he fits the profile the Bundesliga champions are looking for.

However, a move in the winter window is unlikely as according to their information, an €18m release clause in the player’s contract only comes into effect in the summer. It is therefore an open market on him in the winter.

There is also the fact that Tah’s ‘dream destination’ remains the Premier League. He’s made no secret of that fact in the past and it remains the case despite missing out on a move last summer.

Fortunately, there is no shortage of interested parties now, with West Ham, who are labelled as the ‘crème de la crème’, one of the sides to have ‘put out feelers’ for him.

That particular rumour has come back in recent weeks after West Ham were linked throughout the summer as well and if they are keen again, their path may be easier by Bayern’s apparent unwillingness to jump in next month.
