Just a few days ago, we covered a story from Spain claiming that Tottenham were interested in signing Franck Kessie.
It was a relatively strange story to turn up, especially since the Ivory Coast international only joined Barcelona in the summer on a free, but it’s fair to say his time in Spain hasn’t gone to plan so far.
The 25-year-old has yet to fully convince Xavi, and made just seven La Liga appearances in the first half of the season, only two of which were starts.
He started half of the Champions League fixtures, which all went rather poorly, and therefore we find ourselves with Tottenham reportedly being interested.
They explain that after returning to the club on December 5th following his rehabilitation from an injury, the player is ‘expected to be ready’ to face Espanyol on the final day of the calendar year.
His desire is to ‘try and convince Xavi that his different profile to the others in the team can be useful’, and his dream of ‘succeeding at Barcelona remains intact’.
Some at the club, however, including ‘several voices from the board and the sports staff would welcome a loan or transfer in the winter market’.
This is where Tottenham could come in if they really do like Kessie, and it’s worth pointing out that the two sides are on decent terms after sorting out a loan deal for Clément Lenglet in the summer.
