Leeds United star Raphinha has barely made his debut for the national team and is already about to win a starting place in the team.

The winger’s first game for his country was last week. He was brought on at half-time against Venezuela when Brazil were trailing 1-0, and was crucial in their comeback to a 3-1 win.

Raphinha was once again used in the second half against Colombia in the 0-0 draw on Sunday, and despite failing to produce more goals, he still had his performance highly praised by the press and captain Thiago Silva.

So with Brazil clearly in need of new offensive ideas, the Leeds United player is now set to start against Uruguay on Thursday night. According to Globo Esporte, he’s been training with Tite’s eleven, having replaced Gabigol in attack.

Raphinha was also filmed scoring a beautiful goal against Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson in training. Brazil are now set to play with Ederson; Emerson Royal, Lucas Veríssimo, Thiago Silva, Alex Sandro; Fabinho, Fred, Lucas Paquetá; Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus and Neymar.

Following the match against Uruguay, Raphinha would have just over 24 hours to return to England for Leeds United’s match against Southampton, and is therefore likely to miss the clash at St. Mary’s Stadium.
