Everton are still in the race to sign Sandro from Malaga, with Marca naming them in a Sunday report on the player. It’s Sandro’s big day, on the final day of La Liga, the La Masia graduate has a chance to give the title to his former club.
Real Madrid travel to Malaga, and if Barcelona beat Eibar at home, Zinedine Zidane’s men need either a draw or victory to clinch the title. The Catalan press are placing a lot of hope on Sandro, and it would be a wonderful way to win the league for Barcelona.
That came after claims Sandro had agreed to join Sevilla, and then that he’d agreed terms for a transfer to Everton. It’s quite possible all those claims were jumping the gun.
Atletico have a transfer ban for the summer window.
Just like Real Madrid, they were banned from registering players for two windows due to breaking rules on signing minors. Real Madrid got their appeal together quickly and have been free of the second window ban for some time. Atletico are very hopeful of overturning their summer ban, but they still haven’t secured that so nothing is guaranteed.
With the ability to sign players, Atletico’s first will be Alexandre Lacazette, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas publicly confirming that on Saturday evening.
Sandro may think twice about joining Atletico under those circumstances. He wouldn’t want to be stuck to the bench, especially with World Cup 2018 on the horizon. That’s a boost for Everton’s chances, and something they’d surely be pushing to the player.
Marca expect that an announcement could be soon (probably more days and weeks than hours) after Malaga’s last game of the season today.
